What’s the big deal? Purpose . . .

No Huddles Day Luke 1:38
New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

38 Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.

What is the amount of time you devote to the following:
Your Birthday (do you celebrate the day, for a week, for a month, or you don’t celebrate at all?)
Thanksgiving
Easter
Halloween
Valentine’s Day
New Year’s Day
Arbor Day
Christmas

Christmas is the one holiday that gets many days devoted to it. In fact, stores start devoting time to it beginning in September.

Why?

Because it is the holiday that generates the most revenue for many businesses, etc. so why not start early, right?

It becomes, as Adam Hamilton calls it, “an orgy of overindulgence.”

People go into debt making sure their family/friends have “enough.”
We work ourselves into a frenzy attending every party that we’ve even been THOUGHT of being invited to.
We sing the songs, hang the lights, bake the food, buy the gifts . . .
Often times, by Dec. 25 it is as if we have “Christmas Hangover”

What if this year we become motivated by different things?

It becomes our thoughts, feelings, and actions that evoke our passions for others.

Then Christmas becomes so meaningful and joy-bringing that we just can’t wait to get started?

What if we redefine the purpose of Christmas?

If you feel as if you have come to a place that you are able to claim your purpose for Christmas, we invite you to post it on any of our social media so we can celebrate those new purposes and move through the season of Advent (preparation and waiting) together!

Grace and Peace,
Andrea
